简单学个单词（snub）

用ios自带词典简单define后发现，snub做动词具有两个意思：

• 1.rebuff, ignore, or spurn disdainfully.

以鄙夷、不尊重的态度或方式忽略、拒绝等–冷落，不待见。

• 2.check the movement of (a horse or boat), espeacially by a rope wound around a post.

第二种释义机翻之后使我百思不得其解。首先这里的check并非examine等意思，而是halt, stop, bring to a standstill的意思（某些考试中常考的僻义）。
其次，wound这里做的是谓语，而非injury伤口之意（看错了吧哈哈哈）。这里的wound是wind的过去分词，wind around是围绕、环绕的意思。上述snub的第二个释义是说：

尤指用绳子将马或船系在柱子上来牵制它们的活动。

snub这个单词的意思大抵能够上下文猜出来，释义中既有语法（过去分词表被动）还有僻义。
